Blast from the past! Cleaning some of the shipyard dust off the boat and had a collision of memories swarm me when I saw this. Our first ever photo on passage delivering our baby girl from where we bought her in Punta Gorda, FL across the Gulf (attempted at least 🤨) to Pensacola, FL. We were so fresh and naive and unshakably happy. Still are. Despite all that went down on that wayward trip. I mean, look, the dinghy is still on the davits!? We’ve got “great stuff” in the lazarette! A whole Annie fits down there. 😳 Just finished installing a new compressor, thermostat, and evaporator box on the boat with a clean “great stuff” finish. Lol. 35 years for the old one is not a bad run! We’re ready for some COLD beers and cocktails now! 🥶 🍹 #havewindwilltravel #boatprojects

I care none if this makes me appear the quintessential sun nerd. It just warms my heart (get it ; ) to be able to operate the electronics on our boat from a source that is not only eco-friendly for our poor ailing earth, but that is also super affordable and … (drumroll) easy enough that Annie can install it! Win. Win. Feel free to dig in, to a detailed recount of our new solar install. We replaced the hurricane-damaged panels and added a new (rather large) 170W panel on the dodger to upgrade our previous 200W configuration to a new 380W system with the critical help of Lyall and his team @sunpoweredyachts . Finally finished the install of our new solar panels! ☀️ Can anyone guess how many watts we put on? 🤔😊This was a pretty fun project. We had to get a couple of adapters to wire the two 50-watts in parallel, create some wiring extensions here and there, and unfortunately make one extra hole in the deck. 🙁 I hate doing that but sometimes it’s necessary. For power, I will call it necessary. What do y’all think? Many thanks again to @sunpoweredyachts for all the help installing their (what Lyall, with Sunpowered, and I have dubbed) “super sexy” panels! 🙌 💪 🛠 ⛵️ ☀️ #havewindwilltravel #solarpanels #sunpoweredyachts
