It’s hard for me to find words that capture the feel of New England. Mossy stone fences? Steep grassy hillsides? Squiggly boat reflections in the water? Fleeces in July? Raw oysters and rosé? It’s tough to say, exactly, but it was this cool feeling in our lungs that told us “We’re not in Florida anymore.” In May/June of this year, Phillip and I sailed back up through the Chesapeake and into the Long Island Sound to spend our first summer in New England. Cheers to that. 🥂 Thankfully Nicole just gave us some uncomfortable conditions up in Charleston. Rain, a little swell, and 30 knot gusts. We did, sadly, see an unmanned boat break free, drift, and catch on a bridge, eventually taking on water. Never a fun sight. But we and UbiQ stayed safe. Offshore hair, don’t care! 😝 Had us a nice passage recently from Coney Island, NY to Norfolk, VA. Ubi continues to impress, typically running around 7.0 knots SOG in favorable conditions. We’re ready for some warmer weather, though, that lets us ditch these sweaty foulies and cruise in bikinis and board shorts. There’s a George Strait and Christina Aguilera song in there somewhere. Phillip and I plundered a thrift store in Norfolk, VA and spent an awesome Halloween weekend in Norfolk’s NEON district.
