While we certainly did not plan it that way, and I didn’t even notice until we arrived in Annapolis, MD, I will never forget the day we moved aboard our new 2015 Outbound 46, Ubiquitous (who has since taken on the fun nickname gifted to us by her former owner: “UbiQ”) as it was April 3, 2021. Fresh up on the HaveWind blog today, our new hybrid cruising chapter aboard the most beautiful boat ever begins in four … three … two … one … BLASTOFF!

If we share the pretty sunrises and sunsets we gotta share these too. Storms are not our favorite time on the water. But thankfully this one swept right around us and Ubiquitous (whom we’ve been lovingly calling UbiQ) stayed dry and safe. Whew! ⛈ #havewindwilltravel #lifeaboard #storm

Fun news up on the blog today about my Baltimore Trawlerfest speaking gig and a preview of one of my seminar topics -- "Rock the Boat" -- a talk designed to empower women who want to go cruising with the truth that they are far more capable and resourceful than they let themselves believe and that becoming an equal CREW member aboard (rather than a pampered princess) will only enhance their cruising experience. 💪 ⛵️ One of the very fun stories I like to share when speaking on this topic? Have wind will … KITE! 🪁 Hadn’t been kitesurfing in a long time! (Over a year we think because of Covid, then Hurricane Sally which took out our main bridge to the beach in Pensacola, then winter, then new boat shopping, then the Chesapeake … ). So this was a real treat. Thankfully Ida only brought us some gusty wind in the panhandle. And some big surf which gave me a healthy dose of nerves but I got out there. 💪 I’m the one in the pics where the kite is waaaay out beyond the surf! I will never regret all the face plants and upwind “walks of shame” it took to get me here. Kitesurfing is just … awesome. 🏄‍♀️ 💨 🌊 #havewindwilltravel #kitesurfing

TRAVEL BUDDY. Noun. Definition: “Person with whom one journeys.” I am so lucky to have this man. 🥰 Every trip, adventure, lunch dash, surprise day, and “find a drink hole” he plans for me is always fun, interesting, and memorable. Here we were exploring the cool Thurgood Marshall monument during our first days in Annapolis when we survey/sea-trialed the new boat. What an inspiring man. Annapolis is so full of rich, mind-boggling, awe-inducing history. It reminds me of how much more of the world I can’t wait to see and learn about. All on the heels of this man. Phillip.
