#43: How Many Lawyers Does it Take?

Two apparently!  Removing these shrouds required some hefty plumbing wrenches and a few bad lawyers jokes but we finally got them off!  Enjoy!

Thanks to my Patrons who help me share the journey.  Get inspired.  Get on board.

Welcome to Low Country. 😍 ⛵️ This was our first time stopping in Beaufort, SC and it was stunning. Spanish Moss hanging from every tree. It’s beautifully dizzying. The horse-drawn carriage tour was super fun. I fell in love with this English Shire: Angus. 🥰 All the ICW motoring earned our Yanmar engine “Yannick” an oil change and Phillip got to visit Parris island where he went for USMC boot camp many moons ago. Oo-rah! #havewindwilltravel #beaufortsc #lowcountry #cruising #usmc #outbound46
Blog Time! Up the East Cost in Three Passages: Rough, Calm, and Just Right. After completing our list of spring boat repairs (and, let’s admit it, some fantastic upgrades – it’s all about balance!) in sunny Ft. Lauderdale in April and May of 2023, we had our sights set on New England. With the incredible summer we spent up there in 2022—our first in New England—we were eager to get back. Port Washington, Newport, Bristol,Cuttyhunk, Martha’s Vineyard, Block Island … they were all calling! We also wanted to get some good offshore time in as well as we’d been at the dock in Florida for several months. Ubi was ready to get sailing. It’s what she was built to do. Join us at HaveWindWillTravel for three passages up the east coast back in June heading to sunny New England for the summer.
Have costumes will travel! 😂 We always carry a few costume options on the boat. It’s a cruising rule! Phillip “wished” for a fun, spooky night and this genie delivered! Hope you all had fun dressing up and getting some treats! 👻 🎃
When it's time to move, it's time to move - rain, shine, even under a full moon! Say "Buh-Bye New York!" 👋 🗽 The storms in NY finally let us loose and we were able to motor down the East River alongside New York City and through "Hell's Gate" to Sandy Hook, where we staged up to start our jumps offshore headed south for the winter. See if you can find the "full moon" 🌝 in this batch of foulie photos! Off we go!
For Ubi, in 2023, April showers brought many project hours. After all of our holiday, island-style fun in the Abacos in December-January, Phillip and I planned to spend a good bit of the spring in sunny Ft. Lauderdale tackling some long overdue projects. The short list included replacing the shocks in our failing boom vang, rebuilding our hydraulic backstay, replacing our interior ultra-suede cushion covers with ultra-leather (huge upgrade!), and switching from a sail cover to stack pack. Then, a small catastrophe occurred and Ubi had to add another major project to the list - replacing our busted davits. Yipes! Many thanks to our cruising friends, John and Alexis on s/v Ashling and Jamie and Sheryl on s/v Pacific High, who helped us out in this unexpected pinch. Check it out at HaveWindWillTravel!
